Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program Overview

Program Duration: 12 Months (180 hours)

The Ayurvedic Health Counselor program, offered in partnership with the Yoga Veda Institute, is designed to provide comprehensive education and practical training in Ayurvedic principles, assessment techniques, and counseling skills. Through a blend of theoretical instruction, hands-on practice, and experiential learning, students will gain the knowledge and proficiency necessary to guide clients towards optimal health and wellness using Ayurvedic approaches. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate from Yoga Veda Institute, recognizing their achievement and expertise in Ayurvedic health counseling.

The program covers a wide range of educational competency requirements, including:

  • Trividha, Darśana, Sparśana, Praśna

Program Delivery Format

  • Weekend Intensives: Twelve weekend intensives will be conducted, each spanning 15 hours over two days. These intensives will cover foundational topics such as Ayurvedic Nutrition, Herbalism, Birth & Beyond, and Women’s Health.

  • Weekly Meetings: In addition to the weekend intensives, weekly study halls will be held throughout the program. These meetings will provide in-depth instruction on assessment techniques, including pulse diagnosis, tongue examination, and observation skills. Each weekly meeting will last for 2 hours.

  • Online Remote: Participants will engage in an online remote portion of the certification program with the Yoga Veda Institute, offering flexibility and accessibility for distance learning. This component will supplement the in-person sessions and provide further depth to the curriculum.

Additional Considerations

  • Dive deeply into each workshop topic over a concentrated weekend, allowing for immersive learning and practical application.

  • Between intensives, engage in regular study halls to reinforce learning, foster discussion, and ensure continuity throughout the program.

  • Workshops are evenly spaced across the months to prevent overwhelming learners, ensuring a manageable pace of learning.

  • We offer flexible scheduling options, allowing learners to attend intensives in their preferred order (with prerequisites considered) and providing a total of 36 months to complete their certification.

  • Apply knowledge gained from intensives through case studies, group activities, and practical exercises during study halls, fostering real-world application and understanding.

  • Throughout the program, assessments and feedback mechanisms are integrated to track progress, address challenges, and reinforce learning objectives.

    This structure, combining weekend intensives and weekly meetings, creates a comprehensive learning experience tailored to adult learners transitioning to a career in Ayurveda. It maximizes engagement, facilitates deep understanding, and accommodates diverse schedules and learning styles.

  • Upon completion of the Ayurvedic Health Counselor program, graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to guide individuals and groups through educational seminars and one-on-one sessions on the principles and practices of the Ayurvedic way of life and healing. The scope of practice emphasizes education on prevention of imbalances, addressing imbalances, and regaining wellness on all levels of being, utilizing life-enhancing modalities and the philosophy of Ayurveda, Tantra, and Holistic Medicine. Approaches include nutrition, lifestyle modifications, meditation, psychospiritual approaches, health-promoting herbal education, goal-setting (sankalpa/dharma work), and designing preventive and complementary health routines according to holistic principles.

    Scope of Practice Includes:

    1. Education and Guidance:

    -Provide education and guidance on Ayurvedic principles and practices to individuals and groups.

    -Offer seminars, workshops, and one-on-one sessions focused on prevention of imbalances and regaining wellness.

    2. Assessment:

    -Use assessment tools to determine the Vikriti (imbalances) of an individual’s body/mind.

    -Work to realign unbalanced states of the doshas, ama, agni, dhatus, and malas through holistic approaches.

    3. Consultations:

    -Meet with individuals one-on-one as an Ayurvedic Health Counselor, providing personalized guidance and support.

    -Offer consultations within the scope of Ayurvedic principles, focusing on holistic wellness rather than diagnosing or treating diseases.

    4. Workshops and Seminars:

    -Lead Ayurveda workshops in yoga studios, community centers, and other venues to disseminate knowledge and promote holistic wellness practices.

    -Provide education on nutrition, daily routine, seasonal cleansing and rejuvenation, digestive health, meditation, and women’s womb wellness.

    5. Integration with Healing Modalities:

    -Integrate Ayurvedic wisdom into current yoga classes, bodywork practices, or other healing modalities to enhance holistic wellness offerings.

    6. Community Engagement:

    -Be part of a supportive community of colleagues, sharing knowledge and experiences to further the practice of Ayurveda.

    7. Private Practice:

    -Establish a private practice with access to the manual, "protocol" forms, and handouts provided during the program.

    -Offer services as an official Rocky Mauna School practitioner, including the use of brand and logo, and membership in an exclusive club of published practitioners.

    Limitations:

    -Graduates do not diagnose or treat diseases.

    -Graduates operate within the boundaries of Ayurvedic principles and do not provide medical advice or interventions beyond their scope of practice.
