ENLIGHTENMENT PIE
A Natural Process for Healing
How do I heal?
Healing begins with a willingness to listen—to the body, the mind, and the parts of ourselves asking for attention.
In Enlightenment Pie, Lisa M. Gunshore shares her personal journey and invites you to explore healing as an ongoing relationship with your whole self.
It's evident that in today's world, an increasing number of individuals are grappling with the challenge of excess weight. To an outsider, the immediate focus might be on the adverse physical repercussions of an unhealthy diet, potentially leading to hasty judgments about the person's self-care abilities. Yet, what often remains hidden are the profound layers of emotional burden that the individual carries – a deficit in self-love that significantly influences their choices regarding self-care or its absence. Beneath the surface lies a complex accumulation of emotional baggage, stemming from various experiences acquired not only in this lifetime but also in past ones. This accumulation materializes into tangible physical weight within our bodies, coupled with emotional and spiritual burdens, often taking the form of karmic imprints. The primary objective of this book is to guide you through the process of liberating yourself from these burdens that permeate your spirit, mind, and body. Through my own personal journey, I've come to realize that authentic weight loss necessitates a holistic approach, involving an inner transformation that encompasses every facet of our existence. Delving into those challenging aspects of ourselves that contribute to our emotional baggage brings forth a torrent of destructive emotions. However, by confronting and working through these emotions instead of suppressing them, we empower ourselves to conquer these burdens once and for all. It's important to recognize that this book isn't solely concerned with altering your dietary habits. Rather, its essence lies in the complete metamorphosis of all dimensions of your being, heralding a transformative shift in your entire life.
about the book
THE STORY
Healing is a relationship.
When I wrote Enlightenment Pie, I was exploring a question that had become deeply personal to me:
How do I heal?
My own journey invited me to look at healing through many lenses—the body and mind, emotional experience, spiritual practice, and the choices we make in everyday life.
In Enlightenment Pie, I share what I discovered along the way and invite you to explore your own relationship with healing. This is a journey of listening, self-inquiry, and returning to yourself with curiosity and compassion.

The process of awakening was so subtle that I was often unaware of its impact. My life shifted constantly, and this may have looked unstable to an observer. However, it was necessary to come to who I am today, despite the obstacles that remain. The potential for healing exists in each moment.
In 2011, after a full recovery from a health crisis, I began writing Enlightenment Pie. Since then, I have written my way through health challenges, heartbreaks, and moments of awareness that were poignant to my own healing process. As an avid diarist, I examined my journals to see patterns of behavior that created drama and resulted in destructive emotions. I also noticed a clear set of steps that I followed each time I overcame a destructive pattern with my health or emotions.

turn towards yourself
A moment to reflect
Healing can begin with paying attention to what we have been carrying—and how we have been caring for ourselves along the way.
Take a moment to consider:
What is asking for your care right now?
It may be something you notice in your body, an emotion you’ve been holding, a habit you’re curious about, or a need you haven’t given yourself time to acknowledge.
What might it feel like to meet that part of yourself with compassion?
You might write a few words, sit quietly with the question, or simply notice what arises. There is no answer you need to reach today.
FROM STORY INTO PRACTICE
What does it mean to make healing a practice?
When we begin to listen to ourselves with curiosity and compassion, we may notice the patterns, experiences, and choices that have shaped our relationship with healing.
The next step is finding ways to bring that awareness into daily life.
An invitation to the Enlightenment Pie Immersion
The Enlightenment Pie Immersion brings the ideas in the book into a guided experience of study, reflection, and practice.
Together, we’ll explore spiritual foundations, Ayurveda, the five elements, and holistic approaches to self-understanding. Each course offers another opportunity to deepen your awareness and discover practices you can return to over time.
What if the patterns exhausting your relationships are not proof that you are broken — but signs that you have learned to abandon yourself in order to maintain connection?
Cutting Into It is a transformative guide to recognizing the unconscious relational patterns that keep many people trapped in cycles of over-functioning, emotional burnout, anxious attachment, avoidance, people-pleasing, and self-abandonment.
Blending personal reflection, nervous system awareness, contemplative practice, and practical self-leadership tools, Lisa M. Gunshore (Sundara Rishika Devi) offers a compassionate framework for learning how to remain anchored within yourself while navigating relationships, conflict, intimacy, family dynamics, work, and everyday life.
Inside, you will explore:
Attachment patterns and relational survival strategies
Emotional labor and over-functioning
Boundaries, nervous system regulation, and self-trust
How to interrupt reactive patterns in real time
A grounded path toward embodied self-leadership
At the heart of this work is one guiding principle:
I stay anchored. I don’t manage others.
This is not simply a healing journey.
It is a return to yourself.
the journey continues
From healing to awareness
Enlightenment Pie begins with a question:
How do I heal?
As we begin to care for ourselves and reflect on our experiences, another question may emerge:
What are my patterns revealing?
In The Digital Mirror: Journeying into the Self through Artificial Intelligence, I explore how
reflection, dialogue, and awareness can help us see the patterns shaping our lives—and make more conscious choices.
